Memmer Clarifies TGH Proposal

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — In a story earlier this week Tuolumne CAO Craig Pedro laid out his concerns about using the Tuolumne General Hospital campus to house aspects of the Law and Justice Center.

It was in response to Tom Memmer, candidate for Sheriff, who has proposed utilizing a portion of the TGH site.

Memmer says, "The idea is to improve our working conditions by using the main building of Tuolumne General Hospital for our (Sheriff’s Office) operations."

"That does not include the jail, probation, courts, or anything like that," adds Memmer.

Memmer says he has concerns about the cost of the Law and Justice Center proposed off Old Wards Ferry Road, and feels this would be a way to immediately fix a need. He says he understands it is not feasible to house multiple aspects of the Law and Justice Center at the TGH location.

Memmer is facing Sheriff Jim Mele in the June 8th primary.
