Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Relay For Life will take place this weekend at Sonora High School.
Committee Chair Ron Hamilton says the purpose is to fight back against cancer.
"This year we have 32 teams and we’ve already raised over $50,000, beating last year’s total," says Hamilton. "We’re hoping that by end of the weekend we’ll have moved well past that number."
The Opening Ceremonies begin at 8:30am and then walkers will take to the track. A meal will begin at 5pm with a concert at 6pm. A Luminary Ceremony starts at 8:30pm to remember those that have passed away from cancer. The 24 hour relay will conclude Sunday morning.
The public is invited to come out and support the walkers. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
