City Council Plans For Future

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The Sonora City Council will put a strategy together on how to replace some key officials that will be retiring over the coming year.

City Administrator Greg Applegate will be retiring on August 24, Community Development Director Ed Wyllie has announced his intention to retire, as have an Administrative Analyst and a Public Work Specialist.

In a report to the Council, Applegate is recommending that an interim City Manager be hired for a minimum of six months while the City finds a full-time replacement. The City would then receive a six month savings in regards to benefits and possibly salary.

To replace the Community Development Director, Applegate is recommending that the City contract out its Planning Services on an as-needed basis. Under this option, the City would budget $40,000.

Multiple other options will be discussed at Monday’s City Council meeting that begins at 5pm at Sonora City Hall.
