Prison Vehicles Involved In Collision

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Two Department of Corrections vans from the Sierra Conservation Center were involved in a fender bender this morning on O’Byrnes Ferry Road.

The CHP says the first van was traveling on O’Byrnes Ferry Road and when it came to a stop at the intersection of Hwy 108/120 it was rear ended by the second van.

The vans were transporting high risk inmates to medical appointments in the valley.

A prisoner in the first van and a correctional officer in the second van both complained of minor pain and were taken to Sonora Regional Medical Center.

CHP Officer Mike Remmel says, “All of the other prisoners were transported to their location safely, and the public was not in danger at any point.”

The accident occurred during the eight o’clock hour this morning.
