Tourism Remains Steady In Calaveras
Tourism is not expected to drop in Calaveras County this Spring and Summer, thanks to the efforts of the Calaveras Visitors Bureau.
Lisa Mayo, Executive Director for the Bureau, was Friday’s KVML "Newsmaker of the Day".
Social Networking is the latest tool, being utilized by the Bureau, to keep potential tourists interested in what takes place in Calaveras. Mayo has taken numerous marketing classes and is turning her knowledge around to help present classes to local business owners, who are interested in finding out how to use facebook, twitter and other social websites.
The next Social Media Workshop will take place Monday, May 3rd.
According to Mayo, the projected tourist numbers for this Spring are about five hundred people higher, then compared to one year ago, and so far are on even par with last Summer.
Mayo was recently awarded a scholarship from the Western Association of Convention and Visitor Bureau’s to attend the WACVB Tourism Tech Summit that was held in Seattle last month. Only two people are given this full ride scholarship each year.
The KVML "Newsmaker of the Day" is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
