San Francisco, CA – A federal appeals court in San Francisco says an extensive class action lawsuit against Walmart Stores Inc. will go to trial.
According to the Associated Press, the lawsuit was filed in 2001 and includes multiple claims that the world’s largest private employer discriminates against female workers. The litigation alleges that the company pays women less than men for the same jobs and is slower to promote females.
Walmart has consistently denied the allegations.
The Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals voted 6-5 to send the case to trial.
