Snowpack Increases During Spring

Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — More precipitation is expected next week, but California’s Sierra Nevada Snowpack is already at 132 percent of average for the date.

DWR Spokesperson Don Strickland says the northern Sierra is 166 percent, the central is 111 percent and the southern is 131 percent.

The D.W.R. announced today that water contractors and farmers will receive 30 percent of water requests, which is up from the 20 percent that was promised last month.

Despite a good season for precipitation, D.W.R. says it is not enough to reverse three years of drought, so it will still not be able to deliver all the water that is requested.
