Sheriff’s Office Receives Grant

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne Narcotics Team will be able to add an additional deputy thanks to a federal grant.
Sheriff Jim Mele says his Office has received an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant in the amount of $286,232. The funding will also go towards helicopter rentals and purchasing supplies needed for the unit.
T.N.T. currently has three deputies and a supervisor and this will bring staffing to four deputies.
The Tuolumne County Supervisors accepted the additional funding with a 5-0 vote at Tuesday’s meeting.
