Sonora Fire Flow Testing

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Don’t be surprised or alarmed if you see large volumes of water flowing in drainages in the area of Sonora Regional Medical Center this week.

Granted we’re expecting a Monday evening, Tuesday rainstorm but Wednesday and Thursday of this week the Sonora Fire Department will be conducting flow tests to evaluate fire flows throughout the City.

Crews will be working in the areas of Guzzi Lane and S.M.R.C., Sonora Elementary School and Delnero/Pauline Court.

This water line distribution test is not unlike those conducted by Tuolumne Utilities District crews. Residents may experience fluctuations in service pressure. If pressure problems persist contact the Fire Department (532-7432) or T.U.D. (532-5536).

According to City of Sonora Fire Chief Mike Barrows, “While flushing is occurring the S.F.D. recommends not doing laundry and limiting water usage as much as possible. If you have cloudy water after the lines have been flushed, turn on an outside hose bibb in order to flush your service line prior to where the water enters the house.”

Should you have any questions or concerns you can contact Chief Barrows at the above number.
