Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA – A Sonora man was arrested after breaking a restraining order while allegedly threatening and stealing credit cards from an elderly victim who he had already stolen money from in the past.

A call regarding a disturbance to Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Dispatch brought deputies to a home on Campo Seco Road in Sonora on Monday afternoon. Once on scene, deputies questioned 32-year-old Benjamin Ross inside the house. A records check revealed the victim had a protective order against Ross. Through further investigation, deputies learned that Ross had allegedly repeatedly harassed and threatened the elderly victim into giving him money, totaling several hundreds of dollars.

A search of Ross’s belongings uncovered several hypodermic needles, drug paraphernalia, and credit cards belonging to the elderly victim. He was arrested and booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for a violation of a criminal protective order, possession of drug paraphernalia and credit cards not belonging to him along with elder abuse. His bail was set at over $100,000.
