Calaveras County, CA — With all the ornaments, tinsel, and lights finally removed, are you wondering what to do with that live Christmas tree before it sheds anymore needles?

Calaveras County has several locations for residents to still dispose of the holiday evergreen and even better – it is free through February1st. One requirement is that the tree be stripped clean of tinsel and any other decoration. The county provided this list of drop off facilities:

Wilseyville Transfer Station and Yard Waste Facility

  • 4598 Blizzard Mine Road, Wilseyville
  • Open Friday through Monday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Trees are to be deposited at the yard waste facility and not at the transfer station.

Red Hill Transfer Station and Yard Waste Facility

  • 5314 Red Hill Road, Vallecito
  • Open Friday through Monday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Trees are to be deposited at the yard waste facility and not at the transfer station.

Rock Creek Landfill

  • 12021 Hunt Road, Milton
  • Rock Creek is open every day from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Important! – Please arrive 30 minutes prior to closing to allow time to unload.
