Yosemite National Park, CA — Road construction and a maintenance project are right around the corner for Yosemite.

Construction on 24.4 miles of Wawona Rd. is set to begin in May. This project will improve the roadway from the Park’s south entrance to the junction of Bridalveil Straight in Yosemite Valley.

Visitors traveling into Yosemite via Hwy 41/Wawona Rd. will experience up to 30 minute delays Monday through Thursday from 6am until 11pm. and from 6am until 5pm on Fridays. Additionally one hour delays will be scheduled from 11pm until 6am Sundays through Fridays. There will be no weekend delays.

This project will resurface, restore and rehabilitate the roadway, improve drainage and grading and add new signage. The work will also include striping of the roadway.

The Wawona Rd. project is scheduled to be completed by November, 2010.
