Yosemite, CA – Yosemite’s El Capitan will soon start appearing on the U.S. quarter.
The U.S. Mint announced today that the iconic granite monolith is one of five new designs that will appear on the back of the 25 cent piece starting in July. George Washington’s profile will remain on the front of the quarter.
The Yosemite Quarter is part of a new “America the Beautiful” series being released by the U.S. Mint.
56 quarters showcasing national parks or landmarks will be released through 2021. Yosemite is the only landmark that has been selected in California.
