Copperopolis, CA — Copperopolis is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year.
A ground breaking ceremony was conducted today for an anniversary wall that will be built next to the armory at 495 Main Street.
All of the materials for the project are being donated by local contractors and Calaveras County Supervisor Russ Thomas has volunteered to help oversee construction.
Community members and businesses can purchase bricks that will be placed on the wall. The first phase will be completed on June 5th, and every year organizers plan to add more bricks.
June 5th is also the date of a community celebration in honor of 150 years. A parade and other activities are in the planning stages.
