The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Sierra Nevada through 10pm Saturday.
Snow levels will generally range from 3500 through 5000 feet.
Several inches of snow accumulation is likely at 4000 feet. Half a foot to three feet of snow is expected above 5000 feet. Up to four feet of snow is possible above 7000 feet.
Winds will gust from 50 to 60 MPH over and near the crest.
The Motherlode should receive one to two inches of rainfall this afternoon and evening. There is also the chance of evening thunderstorms. Heavy rainfall may cause ponding of water on area roadways and in low lying areas.
