Hwy 4 Accident Turns Fatal
Copperopolis, CA — Regarding that Hwy 4 two vehicle accident Sunday evening shortly after eight o’clock, the CHP is now reporting one fatality.
The head-on collision involved a westbound 2006 Toyota driven by 45 year old Eugenia Medina of Angels Camp. Her passenger has been identified as 38 year old Mario Tinicio also of Angels Camp.
The female driver of the other vehicle, a 1996 Saturn, was eastbound when the collision occurred.
All three were life-flighted to Modesto where the 16 year old Saturn driver succumbed to her injuries in the Emergency Room at Memorial Medical Center. This has been confirmed by the nursing supervisor on duty this afternoon.
The two occupants of the Toyota, Medina and Tinicio, were also life flighted to Modesto. They are being treated for major injuries at Doctor’s Medical Center.
This fatal collision remains under investigation. All three were wearing their seat belts.
This marks the third traffic related fatality of the year in Calaveras County.
