Supervisors Request Grant Money
Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County is joining forces with Calaveras, Amador and Alpine Counties in hopes of securing federal stimulus money to expand broadband internet across the Mother Lode.
On Tuesday the Supervisors voted 5-0 to apply for American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding to expand broadband infrastructure.
The Supervisors also voted to submit a $21,400 funding request to the federal “Preserve America” program for the Gold Rush Black History in the Mother Lode Project. A non-profit foundation is uncovering the history of African American Gold Rush Pioneers and incorporating the findings into curriculum at area schools.
