Wal-Mart Moves Closer To Expansion
Sonora, CA – Residents had a chance to voice concerns about the proposed Sonora Wal-Mart expansion Monday evening when the Draft Environmental Impact Report went before the Planning Commission.
The company is planning to build a 28,000 sq. ft. grocery section onto its current store located in the Sonora Crossroads Shopping Center.
City Administrator Greg Applegate says roughly a dozen residents spoke concerns Monday about the EIR.
"There were comments regarding traffic, storage containers, landscaping and various issues," says Applegate. "The Environmental consultant will take those concerns and respond. Within a month or two the Final Environmental Impact Report will go before the Planning Commission."
No action was taken Monday evening. Walmart says the expansion would create around 85 new jobs.
