Standard Housing Development?

Standard, CA — Over 300 homes are proposed to be built on 600 acres of Sierra Pacific Industries property near the mill site in Standard.

The EIR for the Peaceful Oak Estates Subdivision is completed and it will go before the Tuolumne County Planning Commission on February 17th.

"Like anything in east Sonora, the biggest issue in the EIR is most likely traffic," says Mike Laird, Deputy Community Development Director. "There was extensive analysis done, and the developers have agreed to a lot of improvements in the county’s circulation system to mitigate impacts from the new houses that would be developed."

The project has been in the works since the late 1980’s. Initially the plan called for over 1,100 homes, but has been scaled down over the years.

The Planning Commission Public Hearing is scheduled for 7pm, February 17th, in the Supervisors Chambers.
