Double Arrest Follows Downtown Altercation

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — A Monday evening altercation that involved a deadly weapon resulted in the arrest of a Sonora resident and a transient.

According to Police Chief Mark Stinson 30 year old Justin White of Sonora was in Courthouse Park with a 29 year old female transient. They were approached by another transient, 26 year old Robert Adams.

During the investigation of the disturbance it was learned that Adams approached the two. The female had an active restraining order against Adams.

Adams initiated the conversation by making comments about White and the female subject. White and the female started to leave the Park but they were followed by Adams who continued to antagonize them.

Finally a physical fight erupted and White used a small pocket knife to stab Adams one time. White and the female then continued walking while Adams followed them to the area of the Police Department.

Adams was treated at Sonora Regional Medical Center. He was then arrested for violation of a court order and fighting in public. White was booked for assault with a deadly weapon.
