State Park Ballot Measure Clears Hurdle
Sponsored by:
Sacramento, CA — A ballot initiative that would seek higher vehicle fees to help fund state parks was cleared this week by Secretary of State Debra Bowen and the proponents can now begin collecting the needed signatures.
The plan calls for an increase of $18 in vehicle registration fees, but residents would no longer be charged for the day-use of state parks. The proposal would raise an estimated $500 million each year and go towards increasing park funding.
