Debris Burning Discouraged On Windy Days

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA– The Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit of CAL Fire is strongly discouraging residents from debris burning this week during windy days.

The National Weather Service has issued a local forecast for northeast winds 14-19 mph with gusts to 30 mph over the next couple of days. CAL Fire recommends that residents delay burning for the next 48 hours until winds die down and safer conditions prevail.

While the fall and winter is a good time to dispose of brush, limbs, and other trimmings in burn piles, weather conditions can also change quickly and burning can become dangerous, according to CAL Fire.

For more information about defensible space requirements, as well as safe burning practices, contact your local CAL Fire station, or visit www.fire.ca.gov.
