“Stuff The Bus” In Calaveras County
San Andreas, CA– This year Calaveras Transit and the Resource Connection Food Bank are teaming up for the first ever “Stuff the Bus” food drive.
The goal is to fill Calaveras Transit buses with food donations at several Calaveras County locations. Filling up just one bus could feed hundreds of families this holiday season.
Individuals, groups and businesses are invited to contribute. Any non-perishable food item is appreciated, but the following items are urgently needed: frozen turkeys, canned soup, canned meat, peanut butter, pasta, rice, oatmeal, cereal, stuffing, cranberry sauce, canned beans, dry beans, cans of chili, tomato products, canned fruit, and canned vegetables.
The “Stuff the Bus” event begins Saturday, October 29th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Those who wish to donate are asked to bring food items to bus locations set up at Big Trees Market at 2182 Highway 4 in Arnold, Sierra Hills Market at 117 E. Highway 4 in Murphys, and Treats General Store at 197 W. St. Charles St. in San Andreas.
On Saturday, November 5th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm donations can be brought to a bus location in Valley Springs at Mar-Val at 55 S. Highway 26, and Payless Market at 3505 Spangler Lane in Copperopolis.
Finally, there will be two buses available in Angels Camp Saturday, November 12th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Locations include the Save Mart on 260 Main Street and Angels Food Market at 396 North Main Street.
Monetary donations made payable to “Santa’s Express” will also be accepted at any of the bus locations.
The Santa’s Express Committee anticipates 900 families are in need of a Thanksgiving holiday meal. At Christmas, the Food Bank will be serving approximately 1,300 families.
