Teen Dies After Falling On Yosemite Trail

Sponsored by:

Modesto, CA– A 17-year-old teenage boy has died after falling on a popular hiking trail at Yosemite National Park.

The Associated Press reports that Kao Kue of Fresno died at a Modesto hospital last night of head injuries five days after falling on the Mist Trail.

According to Park Spokesperson Jessica Chamberlain, the teen was flown to Modesto for his injuries after the fall. Because Kue is a minor, she declined to discuss further details.

Located next to Vernal Fall, the Mist Trail has signs warning hikers that mist from the fall can make the trail slippery.

In May, a Texas man drowned in the Merced River when he slipped from the Mist Trail.

So far this year, 14 people have died inside Yosemite. Kue is not included in that count because he died outside of the park.
