2008 Motherlode Round-up Queen, Jessica Haynie, has been crowned the 2011 Miss Folsom Pro Rodeo Queen.
Haynie was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
Before leaving for U.C. Davis, Haynie grew up near Lake Don Pedro and attended Tioga High School. She has one brother and two sisters.
Haynie says all of the competitions have included speeches, hair and makeup, horsemanship and modeling. The toughest part of any competition according to Haynie is the hair and makeup because, “I’m basically a tomboy.”
Jessica originally wanted to be the Mother Lode Round-Up Queen after watching the Mother Lode Round-Up parade as a little girl. She was also the 2006-2007 California Gymkhana Association Queen and was active at the local and state levels of 4-H and Gymkhana.
At U.C. Davis, Haynie has been majoring in dramatic arts and minoring in interior design and has been a part of the equestrian team.
Haynie prepared for the Folsom Pro Rodeo event by practicing her riding every day and working on what she feels is her greatest weakness; public speaking.
The “Newsmaker of The Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
