Mountain Ranch, CA – A Calaveras County man was arrested after allegedly making threats to a family member and law enforcement.

The incident was at 233 Old Prospector Trail in Mountain Ranch.

34-year-old Aaron Gray is trained in martial arts and had allegedly told a family member that “I might kill you.” The family member then went to a neighbor’s house to notify officials. The Sheriff’s Department reports that Gray had been hallucinating over the past two weeks and was striking things outside his home with a sword earlier in the day.

Deputies went to the home to check on Gray’s welfare and to investigate the threat. When deputies approached, Gray emerged from some bushes and slashed a patrol car tire with an edged weapon. Gray then ran into some nearby woods and could not be located.

The following morning (Sunday), the Sheriff’s Department was notified that Gray had returned to his residence, and stated that he would “bomb” the officers if they attempted to contact him again. Deputies went back to the home and arrested Gray without incident.

Gray has been booked into Calaveras County Jail on charges of vandalism, resisting arrest, assault on a peace officer and possession of throwing knives.
