A Day In The Garden

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA– This Friday, June 10th, the Calaveras Rotary Community Garden makes its debut.

The fully fenced garden located at the Food Bank in San Andreas, is entitled “A Day In The Garden” and has 25 plots for growing fresh vegetables and fruit trees, according to Food Bank Program Director Jeannie Hayward.

“To help get the garden planted, bring a vegetable plant or two and help us get this garden party started,” said Hayward. “We are so grateful for the time and energy that our Calaveras Rotarians have put into this beautiful garden and want all of our community to share in the fruits of their labor. “

During the grand opening, plots will be available for interested community members, solar cooking demonstrations will be presented, and the Food Bank’s Produce Day which includes free produce to anyone in the community, will also be taking place.

Funds raised for the Calaveras Rotary Community Garden were provided by the four Rotary Clubs in Calaveras County who also volunteered their time and efforts to building the garden.

The Resource Connection is a community-based non-profit organization established in 1980 to meet the needs of children and families and promotes programs in nutrition, prevention/intervention and children and families in Amador and Calaveras Counties.
