Calaveras Dealer Heading To Prison
San Andreas, CA — A Calaveras County man, that prosecutors say ran a large-scale drug operation, faces time in federal prison.
Manuel Aguilar-Godinez, 36, pleaded guilty Friday to conspiring to possess 34 pounds of pseudoephedrine, a key ingredient used to manufacture methamphetamine. The Associated Press reports that Aguilar-Godinez was arrested in September 2008 after buying the cold medicine in the Los Angeles area. Federal law prohibits the stockpiling of the decongestant. Investigators say Aguillar-Godinez ran a drug ring out of Calaveras County that was one of four drug rings recently shut down by federal and state investigators.
Federal prosecutors say Aguilar-Godinez is a “twice deported illegal alien,” and is scheduled to be sentenced on August 26.
