Habitat For Humanity’s Third Annual House Party
Habitat For Humanity of Tuolumne County is inviting you to help put families into homes with a fun filled evening of food, wine and music.
Betsy Harden, Executive Director of Habitat, was Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
Saturday, June 11, at Immanuel Lodge in Confidence, is the date set for the 3rd Annual Habitat House Party. A free shuttle will be provided.
Hosted by Judy and Roger Haughton, this event will help build Parrotts Ferry Village – affordable housing for hard working families. There will be a Mr. and Ms. Habitat Competition, live music by Chains Required, dinner catered by Any Event and the entire event will be emceed by Justin and Maryann of Star 92.7 FM.

Habitat for Humanity of Tuolumne County is an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity, International. Like International, HFHTC is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing. Habitat believes every man, woman and child should have a decent, affordable home where they can live in dignity and safety.
As an independent affiliate, they are responsible for obtaining their our own funding for operations and to build homes. Most of the funding comes from local donations and grants. They typically build 1000-1200 square foot, single-family homes with three bedrooms, 1½ bathrooms.
Habitat sells the home to a selected family through an interest-free mortgage for the cost of materials used in building the house. The mortgage payments go into the Building Fund which is used exclusively in the construction of more homes.
Although there has been a substantial increase in the number of new homes built in Tuolumne County in recent years, there remains a need for housing that is truly affordable for low-income families. All of the families Habitat serves fall into the category of low-income. To qualify for a Habitat house, a family must have an income that is 25-50% of the median county income.
The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
