Busy Frogtown Weekend

Sponsored by:

Angels Camp, CA– Thousands of visitors packed the Calaveras County Fairgrounds this weekend, all in the name of frogs.

Fair Assistant Manager, Laurie Giannini says the Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee was a big success.

“We had such a wonderful time and great weather, said Giannini. “All of our interactive children’s entertainment was really successful. On Friday night, we had a wonderful event with our bull riding and motor cross. Our hillside was filled Saturday night and for our Derby  Sunday night, it was just jam packed.”

Giannini added that the Bucky Covington concert Saturday night was a big crowd pleaser along with the famous frog jump finals on Sunday.

“The Bozo’s won again,” said Giannini. “It was their fifth year running, so that was a lot of fun. They’ll receive $750 and of course bragging rights.”

The winning frog from “Bozo’s Frog Jumping Team,” jumped 20 feet and 4 inches.  The team is from the Sacramento area.

According to Giannini, the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee had 43,500 visitors during its four day run, Thursday through Sunday.
