Altercation Involving Firearm In Sonora

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA– Tuolumne County Sheriff’s authorities investigated two men yesterday involved in an altercation that included a firearm.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that at around 9:30 am, several 9-1-1 calls were received regarding possible gunshots heard in the 18000 block of Hatler Drive in Sonora.

Deputies responded to the area and found suspects Richard Balt and Jon Greener engaging in a verbal altercation that began on a citizens band radio frequency. Balt reportedly came to Greener’s home and challenged Greener to settle an argument.

Greener responded by coming out of his house and pointing a .357 revolver at Balt. He then redirected the gun to his right and shot twice into a tree and at the ground.

The Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the incident. No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.
