Tuolumne County Relay For Life This Weekend
Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Relay For Life will take place this weekend at Sonora High School.
Mentoring Chair Ron Hamilton says the purpose is to fight back against cancer. Hamilton was Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
“There are numerous teams and two years ago we raised over $57,000, last year $86,000 and this year our goal is $100,000,” says Hamilton. “We’re hoping that by end of the weekend we’ll have moved well past that number.”
The Opening Ceremonies begin at 8:30am and then walkers will take to the track. A meal will begin at 5:30pm with a concert at 6pm. A Luminary Ceremony starts at 8:30pm to remember those that have passed away from cancer. The 24 hour relay will conclude Sunday morning.
The public is invited to come out and support the walkers. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
