Suspected Meth Lab Update
Murphys, CA– The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office has released an update on a possible methamphetamine production lab reported in Murphys earlier this month.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the suspected lab was located in the garage of a residence on Dogwood Drive February 1st. Although no arrests were made, numerous chemicals and other evidence commonly associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine were seized.
Yesterday, members of the Narcotics Enforcement Unit submitted additional reports to the District Attorney’s Office with more information regarding the meth lab. Included in these reports were details of the suspect and results of the analysis of the chemicals seized at the scene.
As a result, the Calaveras County District Attorney’s Office charged Mark Goerlitz with the manufacture of a controlled substance and dissuading a witness. The charges were placed onto Goerlitz who was already in the custody of the Calaveras County Jail after being arrested over the weekend for abuse of an elderly adult.
