Grocery Outlet Expansion
The Sonora Grocery Outlet located at 685 S Washington St is undergoing a major renovation and expansion.
Arthur Schmidt, Grocery Outlet Franchise Owner, was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
Schmidt has owned the Grocery Outlet for the past four years.
The renovation started earlier last week on Monday and Schmidt hopes for full completion by March 25th.
During the nearly two month scheduled expansion, the store will remain open.
Once completed, regular patrons will notice the changes inside. The retail sales floor will increase an extra 2,600 feet, from its current 10,100 square feet.
The expansion of produce, dairy and deli products will also create new employment opportunities. Schmidt employs thirty workers now, over half of which are full time.
The expansion does mean that the retail space of Kragen/O’Reilly Auto Parts is shrinking a bit, but Kragen is using this as an opportunity to remodel and renovate their store as well, according to Schmidt.
