Renovations For Melones Vistor Center
Angels Camp, CA– Renovations are currently underway at the New Melones Lake Visitor Center and Museum.
The renovation that began January 31st, will improve accessibility and bring the facility into further compliance with the American Disabilities Barriers Act.
The $1.38 million project will include improvements to walkways, parking, entry ways, lighting, signage and a fire alarm system. These improvement projects are made possible by funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment act of 2009.
The Visitor Center and Museum will be closed to the public during this renovation, which is expected to last until April.
“Have a little patience with us,” said Pete Lucero from the Bureau of Reclamation. The Visitors Center may be closed, but the park is not. Right now we’re using the administrative offices as a way to get information out to people and hopefully we’ll see everybody out there this summer and this spring.”
The New Melones Lake Administration Office, adjacent to the Visitor Center will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Maps and information are available and Interagency and New Melones Lake annual day use and boat launch passes will continue to be sold in the Administration Office.
