Arrest For Destroying Gravestones

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — A Sonora man is accused of destroying gravestones and monuments at the Odd Fellows Cemetery on Lytton Street.

21-year-old Anthony Briggs-Razzari was booked into Tuolumne County Jail after a witness allegedly saw him damaging multiple plots on Friday. Police Chief Mark Stinson says Briggs-Razzari was located near the cemetery and taken into custody without incident.

Odd Fellows representatives and a representative of Sierra Memorials assessed the damage over the weekend, and estimated it to be around $80,000. Some of the stones were determined to be irreplaceable. Many were broken, and several others were moved from their original plots, which will make it difficult, if not impossible, to determine their original location. An investigation into this matter is ongoing.
