TUD Begins Water Flushing

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA– To ensure water quality, Tuolumne Utilities District (TUD) will begin its annual flushing of the water distribution systems next week.

The flushing of water lines occurs every year and will begin the week of January 10th and will run through March 2011. The reason for the flushing is to clear out any sediment or minerals that may accumulate in pipes on an annual basis.

Next week flushing will begin Monday and continue through January 21st in the areas of Jackson Street, Linoburg and Stockton Street in downtown Sonora. TUD maintenance crews will flush between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:00 pm.

TUD recommends that laundry not be done during flushing periods because it may cause water to become discolored. The use of water indoors should also be limited so that water is not drawn into household plumbing.

TUD also says during flushing of the water lines, there may be fluctuations in service pressure. If pressure problems persist, please contact TUD.
