Sarno Will Lead T.U.D. Board

There continues to be a changing of the guard with the Tuolumne Utilities District.

The Board of Directors chose its new leaders last night. In the past, the Board President and Vice President have been selected on a rotating system, which would have put Delbert Rotelli as the new President. The new Board decided to shake things up and select Mike Sarno as President and Jim Grinnell as VP. The two were the top vote-getters in the November election, which saw four new members join the board.

The Board also scheduled a special meeting for Thursday to go over bylaws, committee structures, a freeze on new hiring, and other aspects of business within the district.

New Board member Kent Johnson initially stated that he would also like to have a closed session to, “review one specific employee.” It was later indicated that it was related to the compensation of the unidentified employee. However, Johnson later chose to defer that item to a later meeting.

Four new members were elected to the T.U.D. Board in November showing that there was dissatisfaction with some of the past decisions of the board, notably recent rate increases. The lone returning member is Rotelli, whose seat was not up for vote. The new members are Sarno, Grinnell, Johnson and John Maciel.
