Board Seat Up For Grabs

Sponsored by:

Tuolumne County, CA – Although he was just elected in November, new Twain Harte-Long Barn School District board member Ken Scott has stepped down due to a family emergency. District Superintendent Dr. John Keiter says the District Board has chosen to take applications for his open seat instead of a special election.

Keiter says, “If the public is unsatisfied with the appointment, then they can file some paperwork and actually require an election to be carried out. An election is a fall back, but typically boards take the least costly route and advertise, and see who is interested, and then select from interested applicants.”

You can get an application at the district office or online by clicking here. Applications are due January 11th, 2013. Keiter says they are looking for someone who is interested in public education, and is ready, willing, and able to serve.

The Board will screen applicants and invite candidates for an interview at the January 15th board meeting. The successful candidate could be selected at that meeting. The position must be filled no later than February 7th. The seat is for a four-year term ending in December 2016.
