Mokelumne Hill, CA – A 69 year old women told a Calaveras County Sheriff’s deputy that two women covered her in a sheet, drove her around and then dropped her off unharmed.

Sheriff’s officials say the victim states that two women came to her house on the 20000 block of Smith Road in Mokelumne Hill to fix her hair and makeup. The suspects are mother and daughter, 71 year old Martha Looney and 49 year old Debra Mendoza, both from Mokelumne Hill. She says they became “pushy” and began riffling through her prescription medications while at her home.

Sheriff’s officials report that the women told the victim they were going to take her to their house to fix her hair. They say she willingly left with the suspects because she was told they were going to take her “somewhere safe.”

The victim told deputies the suspects covered her with a sheet and short while later dropped her off at a medical complex in Jackson. Sheriff’s officials say the victim did not report the kidnapping to anyone at first because she was scared and confused.

This past Friday, Sheriff’s detectives say they were able to positively ID the two suspects and arrested them. Both are charged with felony false imprisonment and Mendoza is also charged with felony elder abuse. The investigation is ongoing.
