Sonora Elementary School Board Vacancy

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Sonora Elementary’s Board of Trustees will be selecting a new school board member soon. Don Rolle has left the board for a county board position. A Special Board meeting on November 8 will review a candidate application in a meeting that is open to the public.

Sonora Elementary Superintendent, Leigh Shampain, says the only applicant to submit paperwork before the November 2nd deadline was Rosetta Bannworth. Shampain noted that the selection process to fill a vacancy is a lot like a job interview. Board members will ask her questions and then they will decide to approve her as a board member or not.

Shampain says as long as the position is filled within 60 days of a vacancy the board has discretion to choose. If they do not approve Bannworth they will go through the process again by posting the vacancy and collecting applications.

Donald Rolle was the Board Clerk and was serveing the December 2010 – November 2014 term. He was the past Sonora Elementary School Board President. Casey Littleton is the current Board President also serving the December 2010 to November 2014 term. Kathy Francis is also on the board for the same term.

Joyce Lupo and Mark Plummer both submitted papers to the elections office, as their terms were up. They were not opposed by anyone and will serve again as board members until November 2016.

The Special Board Meeting will be held at the Sonora Elementary School Library at 5pm.

Other school board election races will be updated tomorrow after polls close here.  Live election night coverage will be provided throughout the evening on 1450 KVML, Star 92.7 and 93.5 KKBN.
