Prevent Scares On Halloween

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA – The Sonora Police Department says safety is first when it comes to Halloween.

Most important is the costume. Police say it should be bright, reflective type clothing that is very visible. They say that includes parents even if they are not in costume. Also, Sonora Police Chief Mark Stinson says parents with younger monsters need to be extra careful.

Stinson says, “Make sure your younger child is in control. It’s a very exciting time for younger kids and they tend to run out into traffic to cross the street to the next house which is very dangerous. So parents need to make sure they have control of their young ones. Let them enjoy the time, but make sure they are in control and not a traffic hazard.”

As for motorists, Stinson says they need to be alert and slow down.
