Angels Camp DUI Investigation
Angels Camp, CA — A man allegedly tried to drive away from the accident scene after causing a crash in Angels Camp.
An Angels Camp Police Officer was in the parking lot at the police station and he heard a loud crash near the intersections of Highway 4 and 49. The officer responded, and soon noticed two vehicles with heavy damage driving south on Highway 49. He followed the two vehicles, and they ended up turning onto Demarest Street, and then into the parking lot of Mike’s Pizza, where they finally stopped.
The driver of the first vehicle, Lucky Rance Marcum, 26 of Tuolumne, was immediately arrested for being under the influence of alcohol. A passenger in Marcum’s vehicle was injured, and was transported to Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital.
The occupants in the second vehicle said that Marcum had slammed into their vehicle on Highway 49, and he then attempted to drive away from the scene. The driver of the other vehicle followed Marcum until the police officer arrived.
Marcum faces a charge of felony DUI with injuries, and possession of a controlled substance. The Police Department says the investigation is ongoing. It happened at around 2am on Sunday.
