Update: Fire Near New Melones Lake
Update at 7 p.m.: Columbia aircraft have been called off the Reynolds Fire now that the flame’s forward rate of spread has been stopped. CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore adds that the blaze remains two acres in size. It broke out just after 6 p.m. in brush along Reynolds Ferry Road, which is the entrance to the Tuttletown Recreation Area of New Melones , off Highway 49. No structures were threatened and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Crews will remain working the fire until full containment is made and mopping up for the next several hours.
Update at 6:50 p.m.:Â CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore relays that crews are getting a handle on a two acre vegetation although there is no containment yet for the Reynolds Fire burning in brush along Reynolds Ferry Road, which is the entrance to the Tuttletown Recreation Area, off Highway 49.
Update at 6:30 p.m.:Â Named the “Reynolds Fire,” CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore reports it is two acres in size and burning in brush along the entrance to the Tuttletown Recreation Area New Melones. There is no word yet on the fire’s size or the flame’s rate of spread. Kilgore also shares that no structures are threatened.
Original post at 6:15 p.m.:Â Tuttletown, CA —Â A column of smoke can be seen rising above New Melones on the Tuolumne County side and that has Columbia aircraft and ground crews heading to the area.
CAL Fire says it has received reports that it is a vegetation fire off Highway 49 and Reynolds Ferry Road near Jackass Hill Road. No further details are available at this time, but we will relay updates as soon as new information comes into the newsroom.
