Groveland’s 49er Fest And Chili/Salsa Cookoff
The Yosemite Chamber of Commerce plays host this Saturday to the biggest event of the year in Groveland, the annual 49er Festival and Chili Cookoff.
Earl Wright, General Manager of the Event and member of the Yosemite Chamber of Commerce was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
According to Wright, the day begins at 7am with a pancake breakfast at the Community Center hosted by the Rebeccas, followed by an antique airplane flyover at 8:45am and then the annual parade down Main Street (Highway 120) beginning at 9am.
From there the events move to Mary Laveroni Community park with music all day (including Joni Morris), vendor booths, kids activities, live and silent auctions, beer, wine, salsa tasting and of course, the famous chili-cookoff.
Mark Truppner from KVML radio and Bridgette from “Big Joe and Bridgette” on KKBN 93.5 FM will be two of the chili tasting judges.
The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
