Stolen Vehicle Arrest
Sonora, CA — A woman attempted to help someone alongside the road, and in turn had her vehicle stolen.
It happened yesterday morning near the intersection of Greenley Road and Cabezut. The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office says the victim saw a woman waiving her arms and appearing to need help. The person along the road was later identified as Victoria Zelmer. The victim stepped outside her vehicle went over to Zelmer. The Sheriff’s Office says Zelmer then walked over to the woman’s car and drove away.
Zelmer drove into the City limits of Sonora, and abandoned the car nearby. The vehicle was later located by a Sonora Police Department officer. Zelmer was in the area, and was taken into custody. The car was then returned to the victim. The Sheriff’s Office says there was reportedly no damage to the car and no items were stolen.
Zelmer faces a charge of carjacking. It is not immediately known why she took the vehicle.
