Changes To Calaveras Transit

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA — Some of the bus routes are being altered in Calaveras County.

The Board of Supervisors recently decided to eliminate a mid-day run from Angels Camp to Copperoplis, as well as a mid-day route that travels through San Andreas, Mountain Ranch, Railroad Flat and West Point. The county is planning to keep the service running during peak times, and then scale back during off hours. In addition, the County will start running a second commuter bus between Vista Del Lago and the Government Center, and start providing direct service to Jackson.

The Board of Supervisors decided to keep one-way tickets at $2. However, packets with 15 tickets will soon cost $28, which is up from the current $26.

The changes are scheduled to go into effect in September. They were at the recommendation of the Public Works Department to offset expenses, and still try to reach a higher number of riders. Calaveras County Transit has a $1.06 million budget.
