Update On Mother Lode Fires
CAL FIRE reports they are getting a handle on both Mother Lode fires. The 134 acre Penn Fire in Murphys is now 80% contained and the 100 acre Graham Fire northeast of Groveland is 35% contained.
Friday afternoon CAL Fire lifted the evacuation alert for 20 homes in the Clifton Way and Clements Road area near Groveland. 481 firefighters are still on scene some from as far away as Orange County.
CAL Fire says it has released some crews from the Penn Fire and sent them over to the Graham Fire. They say over 200 firefighters have been let go from the Penn Fire. CAL FIRE reports that fire should be fully contained on Saturday. One building was destroyed and 12 homes were threatened in the Penn Fire.
CAL Fire is still investigating what sparked the blazes.
CAL Fire says they have nearly 1000 firefighters battling the Graham Fire. Below is a list of the crews that assisted in both blazes:
- The Penn Fire: CHP, US Forest Service, National Park Service, Murphys Fire, NCPA, Calaveras SO, Altaville Melones Fire, Ebbetts Pass Fire, CA Dept. of Corrections and PG&E.
- The Graham Fire: U.S. Forest Service, Groveland Community Services District, Tuolumne County SO, Tuolumne County Fire, Ca. Department of Corrections, and PG&E.
