Chicken Ranch Casino Renovation
People who haven’t stepped into the Chicken Ranch Casino within in the last three years, probably won’t recognize it as the same building now.
Lloyd Mathiesen, Tribal Chairperson of the Chicken Ranch Rancheria, was Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
Major renovations were completed last November. The casino now features 345 slot machines, a full service restaurant, entertainment and at times, mixed martial arts fights.
Bingo still exists from Sunday through Thursdays, but it is no longer considered the “main” feature and was dropped from the title name. But make no mistake. It remains a very popular feature.
“From the 1800’s themed “bankers” cashier cage to the “sky” ceiling, most patrons can’t even believe it is still the same building,” said Mathieson. “This was a complete and total makeover”.
The casino now employs one hundred eighty five people, which includes an additional seventy jobs since last year’s renovation.
Mathieson said, “We are glad that during these tough economic times, we have been able to add and provide an additional seventy jobs in this community.”
Music will soon be a regular staple on Friday and Saturday nights. Showcasing local bands has been important and will likely remain a priority, according to Mathieson.
The Ranch House restaurant is also becoming a favorite with regulars and locals, especially with Wednesday’s all-you-can-eat pasta buffets and other specials.
