Several Area Fires

Several fires began this afternoon. The newest report is a grass fire off of highway 108 half way down the Twain Harte Grade. Several engines responded and the quarter acre fire is out as of 5:00pm. The west bound lanes were effected and may continue to be slow while they take the next half hour to clean up.

Forest Service crews and CAL Fire are fighting a fifteen acre brush and timber fire at the Moore Creek and Jaw Bone ridge in the Stanislaus National Forest.

Stanislaus Forest Public Affairs Officer, Jerry Snyder says, air attack units are responding. Many units are responding including helicopters and engines. Engines and other units will stay on scene tonight until the fire is put out.

There are also reports of a small vegetation fire in the Cedar Ridge area with several engines in route. The fire is 1/8 of an acre and on 23866 Hitching post road.

The Gaines Fire in Mariposa County was reproted at 12:45pm and is now 500 acres with 20% containment as of 4:00pm. The fire is a threat to structures in the Corbutt Creek area, Old Toll Road/Hornitos Road area and high voltage power lines are within the fire perimeter.
